Midwestern Montana

Midwest Montana is home to some of the most gorgeous country the state has to offer. It cherry picks some of the most well known sights such as the world renown Bitterroot and Mission mountain ranges. It is a cowboy, fly fisher and hikers paradise. However, as the locals say “there’s too many people with all hat and no cattle.” So maybe its time to retire the hat and put on a helmet. Below are some of the regional canyons that are best enjoyed when the air is red and smokey.

Regional description:

Bitterroot range

  • Distance: 5.6 miles

    Rappels: 3

Short description: A lovely half day canyon located off of lake Como that involves a traverse line.

    Long Beta found: HERE

  • Distance: 1.6 miles

    Rappels: 3

Short description: This short, but enjoyable canyon involves 3 rappels down less than vertical drops. Most canyoneers will find it unappealing after July due to the loss of water. Without high flow this canyon is mostly a place to practice.

    Long Beta found: Coming soon.

  • Distance: 2.8 miles

    Rappels: 5+

Short description: An intense series of short drops that go in and out of very short narrows with intensifying dangerous hydraulics. Great for the advanced canyoneer looking to get out of the heat.

    Long Beta found: Coming soon
